Disable System Restore |
| If you have Windows ME or XP, go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm and follow the instruction for disabling system restore. |
Remove Viruses and Worms |
| Go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger and get stinger.exe. |
| It's a standalone program to remove most worms. You should also update your existing antivirus definitions if you can. |
Install Critical Updates to Windows |
| After all of this. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com here and run "scan computer" several times to get all of the operating system updates for your computer. |
Get Ad-Aware for Spyware removal |
| Finally, go to http://www.net-security.org/software.php?id=135 and get ad-aware. It removes spyware and other unwanted stuff on your machine. You should update this program and run it once a week or more. There is an update button that will retrieve the latest definitions. |
